Hello World! It’s good to be back. After taking a break to focus on my own health, I’m excited to be able to share that I am back to blogging on my website.
You see, over the last few year, I learned that I have PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). Add that to my Fibromyalgia (Fibro) and Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) and I was a hot mess. With all 3 conditions, I knew I had to do something.
The internet became my best friend. I researched PCOS, learned about different ways to treat it, both naturally and with the use of prescription medication. It consumed me because I finally had an answer to what was going on in my body.
One thing I learned was that many women suffer from this condition, some never being diagnosed, only to be frustrated that they can’t lose weight, are tired all the time, have facial hair, thinning hair and all of the other symptoms that go along with PCOS. There are so many more symptoms too…it just blows my mind. So, I decided that I couldn’t keep this journey all to myself. I had to help others who didn’t have the resources or know where to start.
What I’ve learned thus far in my journey, well before my diagnosis of PCOS, is this. There are certain things we can control in our lives. As part of my healing, setting boundaries was one of the best things I could do for myself.
As a mom, wife, sister, friend, daughter, business owner, there were days that I was pulled in all directions. I was a care taker to many but I wasn’t taking care of me. I know that I’m not the only one. So, what did I do? I had to make better use of my schedule, prioritizing things that were important to me. Sometimes that meant saying NO to people or things. There were relationships that were toxic that I had to end and there were relationships that needed restored too. I had to learn to turn off the TV and get to bed earlier because rest help heals the body. I also had to learn to shut my phone off and guess what, I survived. Those were just a few things that I did but you can get the idea there.
If you’re one of the many women who suffer from PCOS, RA or Fibro or any other health condition, there is hope. You’re not alone in this journey, I’ll be sharing tips, tools, recipes and more. Keep an eye out.
In this together,
